Hi, I'm Angela. I am an enrolled member of the White Earth Band of Ojibwe. My Ojibwe name is Waabigun (Flower) and I belong to the Name (Sturgeon) Clan. I graduated high school in Park Rapids, MN. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and Social Work at Minnesota State University of Moorhead. I completed my Master of Social Work degree at the University of Minnesota Duluth in 2006. I am currently pursuing my Doctoral in Public Administration through Capella University. I have worked for 19 years in the mental health field for the White Earth Nation and two years for the Leech Lake Reservation. I am trained in culturally specific trauma focused-cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, DC:0-3, PCIT, ASIST, SafeTALK and grief and loss. As the Director of Counseling at Minnesota State University Moorhead I plan on integrating a holistic approach to services in which affect people spiritually, emotionally, physically and mentally.
