Welcome to the Dragon Community: Stephanie Rispa

Stephanie Rispa is MSUM's newest Office and Administrative Specialist Intermediate, in the Center for Global Engagement.

Q: What made you want to work at MSUM?
A: I noticed all of the awards and achievements that Dragon alums are receiving, and what they were accomplishing with their lives. After reading online articles, I just knew that this was a place where I could work with students and staff who are looking to do wonderful things.

Q: What drew you to working in the center for global engagement?
A: I worked as a teacher for 20 years, and during that time I took a couple of different groups overseas as a chaperone for different tours. While doing that, I saw the impact that being overseas and seeing other cultures had on students. That’s what really drew me to this position; I wanted to assist students in getting different cultural experiences.

Q: What unique skills do you have to contribute to MSUM?
A: My experience with students in the past is huge; I feel that it is a huge pathway to different soft skills. My background as a communications director also gives me a lot of background knowledge, and I get to work with creativity in this job.

Q: What is something others may not know about you?
A: I love to experience new things, like traveling, or being near the water in any way.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
A: Ireland and Scotland are at the top of my list. I have spent a little bit of time in England and Whales, but Ireland just really fascinates me, and I have family ties in Scotland.

Q: Where’s your favorite place to eat in the F/M area?
A: Right now, my favorite is Brew Bird. I can't have gluten, so the opportunity to have all those deliciously fried foods that are gluten free makes me smile.
