Welcome to the Dragon Community: Emma Mueller, Franci Rogers, and Jessica Brooks

Meet Minnesota State Moorhead's newest student success specialists, Emma, Franci, and Jessica. The three of them provide support and programming to enhance student retention and success.

Q: What are you all most excited about when it comes to starting these new roles? 

Emma: I am most excited to be working with the students. Since we all have a different load of students, it allows us to get to know our students better.

Jessica:  I’m excited to experience Moorhead's culture for the first time and the new place that I’m in.

Franci: We’ve gotten to meet a few students during SOAR, so I’m excited to meet even more students as the school year starts. 

Q: What do you hope to achieve while working with students?

Emma: I hope to make connections with students and help them grow and overcome challenges, and for myself to grow professionally.

Jessica: My main goal is to make sure that my students leave every conversation with me feeling empowered and more confident on their path.

Franci: My biggest goal is to have students know that not only can they come to us when they’re struggling, but they should come to us to celebrate their successes as well.

Q: What is your favorite activity outside of work to do in the area?

Emma: My fiancé and I like to go hiking a lot. I do a lot of fun crafts at home, too.

Jessica: Right now, it is coffee shop hopping as I am discovering the area.

Franci: I’ve been here a year, so I’ve been getting reconnected with the things I’ve missed being away from Minnesota, like festivals!

Q: If you could each give a piece of advice to students about the upcoming year, what would it be?

Emma: Come see us, and don’t be afraid to try new things!

Jessica: Seeking resources and seeking community is not a weakness, it’s your strength; now is the time to get out of your comfort zone.

Franci: You’re in college. You are in the most resource-rich environment you’re ever going to be in, so use all your resources, and go to all the events.
