RN to BSN Application Dates & Deadlines
Applications are open until the program fills up, so apply early to save your spot!

- Apply to Minnesota State Moorhead
The details for applying to Moorhead are identified on the Transfer Student Admissions page.
NOTE: to apply to Moorhead, you will NOT need high school transcript (having achieved 24 successful credits by transfer) but you will need:- fee of $20.00 to apply to Moorhead as a transfer student
- official transcript(s) from all post-secondary institutions you’ve previously attended sent directly to the Minnesota State Moorhead Admissions Office
- Apply to the RN-BSN Program
Once you have been accepted to Moorhead, you will receive a link to access the RN to BSN program application. NOTE: Before applying to the RN to BSN program, you will need:- a list of previous/current schools you have studied in
- a list of current/previous employment sites
- to develop a 500-word (max) reflection (directions within the online application)
- International Students
The Homeland Security Act of 2002 fundamentally changed the requirements for the international students who wish to study in the United States. International students are advised to seek clarifications with the office of International Student Services. International students who are in the US on an F-1 Visa are eligible to be admitted to a hybrid program which is one of the ways the RN-BSN program is offered. International students may qualify for admission if on certain work visas.- Information for RN-BSN Hybrid Pathway International Students
International students considering the RN-BSN Hybrid Pathway should be aware of the following program-specific expectations:- International students must hold a visa that allows study in the U.S. within 30 days of the program start date.
- Students studying on an F-1 visa must complete the program in three semesters to meet required in-person components.
- Students who completed education outside the U.S. must submit an international transcript evaluation within 15 days of accepting a seat in the program.
- A minimum of 63 transfer credits must appear on the Degree Audit Report (DAR) to be eligible to begin the pathway.
- Information for RN-BSN Hybrid Pathway International Students
Applicants to the RN to BSN program must be licensed RNs or eligible for licensure by end of the first semester of the RN to BSN program. A majority of qualified applicants have an overall GPA greater than 2.75, however applications will be evaluated holistically on a number of criteria (see Admissions Decisions below).
A separate online application to the RN to BSN program is required.
Admission Decisions
Minimum admission criteria include:
- Admitted to MSUM
- Completed RN-BSN application
- Active United States (U.S.) RN license or scheduled to take NCLEX. Provisional offers are extended to pre-licensure applicants meeting all other admission criteria. Full admission granted upon successful licensure. Licensure must be obtained, and proof provided, prior to the start of the second semester in the RN-BSN program.
- If students were previously licensed as an RN in the U.S., they must have a current, unencumbered U.S. license to apply to the program.
- If students are new graduates and have not previously been licensed as an RN in the U.S., they have until the start of the second semester of nursing courses to show proof of licensure.
- If nursing education is from outside the U.S., the applicant must have a current, unencumbered U.S. RN license to apply. No provisional offers will be offered in this circumstance while waiting for NCLEX results.
Upon admission to the RN to BSN program, new students will receive information about required documentation of nursing licensure prior to program start.
